When Good Guts turn Bad
This is what happens when a fungal infection called Candida takes over. On the left we see a nice healthy intestine and on the right we see one which has got Candidiasis or Candida Albicans. This is the visible difference between a healthy and unhealthy gut, and it can be very unpleasant.
How to Maintain Healthy Gut Flora in 3 Easy Steps
Try to avoid those things which damage the gut . If you drink tap water maybe think about getting a filter to take away some of the harmful chemicals. Eat probiotic foods, these are the fermented foods such as live yoghurt, sauerkraut, which is a German dish made from fermented cabbage, and kefir.
There are some Japanese foods such as Miso, Tempeh and Natto. Soy Sauce also would count.
You may also consider supplementing your diet with a good probiotic . There are two ways in which you can do this and its a matter of personal choice. Take a small amount every day throughout the year, alternatively, take a more intensive course 3-4 times per year. It is particularly important to do this if you have recently taken a course of antibiotics.
Be aware of some probiotic drinks that are also very sugary. Sugar is not helpful if you have gut flora imbalance problems.
